Oxy3 GmbH and Birnthaler Feuerwehrbedarf from Parsberg (Bavaria) are combining their expertise to provide fire departments with even stronger support in contamination prevention and post-incident decontamination.

The aim of the partnership is to enable a holistic and practical approach to decontamination – both technically and organisationally. Both companies share a clear objective: protecting emergency personnel without introducing overly complex or cost-intensive systems. The solution must be user-friendly – simple, reliable and efficient.

Two systems – one well-designed overall concept

With the DekoRolli RC9®, Birnthaler Feuerwehrbedarf has developed a mobile decontamination shower that can be set up directly at the incident scene. It enables an initial coarse cleaning of emergency personnel before removing their PPE, significantly reducing immediate contact with soot, smoke residues and other toxic substances.

The Oxy3 system addresses the limitations of conventional cleaning methods. It uses the strong oxidative power of ozone to completely break down polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and other residues in a short time – while being exceptionally gentle on materials. PPE textiles, helmets, tools and even vehicle interiors can be reliably treated without water, chemicals or thermal stress.

The greatest advantage: the two systems complement each other perfectly. While the DekoRolli is used immediately after the operation, the Oxy3 system provides the subsequent deep decontamination – stationary, automated and fully documented.

Successful premiere at the WFV state conference

The system was presented for the first time at the state conference of the Bavarian Industrial Fire Brigade Association (WFV) on 24 April 2025. Fire departments had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the advantages and practical applications.

The response was consistently positive and highlights the growing demand for an effective decontamination solution. The first delivery of an Oxy3 system with a decontamination cabinet in Bavaria is now imminent.
